Ben Yennie: sharing his expertise on indie film distibution, financing and marketing

In a recent LFM TV interview, Ben Yennie opened up about independent film distribution, film financing and indie film marketing.  He is a film producer's representative, author and entrepreneur with a lot of backing in the film industry.

Ben dishes up his own insights into being a producer's rep and working with clients.   Here is an example of one of his insights.  If you are a filmmaker or maybe a film producer, you may ask yourself what is the next step if I think my film is picture locked.   According to Ben,  if you have a picture locked, you may want to contact a producer's rep.  If you want a producer's rep to show any interest in your project, you may plan to show your work to Beta viewers, your firends or other filmmakers just to get feedback on your cut.  Additionally, you must make sure that you really have a picture locked  to avoid wrong assumptions.

Being part of the film community is vital for independent filmmakers. It is not only your community, but it is also the community  which will eventually buy your film. It is recommended to talk with members of the film community. You have to get them interested in your  project earlier because if you are just going to contact them when it is already done, then that strategy will not work in your favor . By the  way, this is the direction the market seems to be heading.  Filmmaking community is going to be the biggest separator between successfully financial filmmakers and  the ones who do not make any money from their works, he says.

As you can see, this interview is particularly useful to get an inside view of a producer's rep. Find out what you need to know about indie film distribution and other film related topics. Enjoy it and stay up-to-date with LFM.
