This situation represents great difficulties to get out of the circle of poverty. After the death of her husband, who was the support of her family, Martha Spragg struggled to establish a business selling soup to raise her six daughters, managing to turn this into a family business, which shows that women of African descent have great skills for entrepreneurship, regardless of the conditions.
